When I was a teenager, I watched this show on TBN geared to preteens and teens. It was a regular series but I can’t remember what its called.
Anyway, it said (and had no real historical evidence to prove) that trick or treat really meant “Give me a virgin or die.” They went on to say that it came from a time where druids would collect virgins for human sacrifice. Since then, I have found no evidence to support their theory. Female virgins or christian princesses were never stolen for human sacrifice.I did find a website that labeled that theory of sacrificing christian virgins “Christian propaganda.” And in my research, I found that in anciet days, the Irish did, rarely and only in times of desperation sacrifice people, (sighting Leo Eaton, In Search of Ancient Ireland)usually men, and I am sure they did not care one way or the other about their purity level. I have not done extensive research on the subject, but I think an article that names and addresses crazy theories and lies would be an interesting read. I am very glad that this site directly tells about Samhain. Good job. good sight.

An article about what Halloween is NOT would be fantastic!

  • Hi there,

I’m all for anything that promotes Halloween as positive. You all are welcome to link to any of the free content (history, myths, trends, etc) on my site if it’s useful in any way. And if you have a banner, I’m happy to post it on my site as well.

    Here’s to a greater Halloween!
